A .nu domain is a perfect complement to a .se domain for you with a company in Sweden. There are more available names than .se and you can highlight messages with the word "nu", eg spridkärlek.nu
.nu is the country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for the small island of Niue 2400 km northeast of New Zealand with around 1200 inhabitants. The domain is the second best option for Swedish sites (next to .se) as it forms the Swedish word "now" and the number of available .nu domain names is much higher than .se domains.
When you register a .nu domain name with us you can choose to buy our advanced, but easy to use control panel LoopiaDNS. With LoopiaDNS you can easily manage both small and large domain portfolios. In addition, you can use it for all your domain names, whether you registered them through us or another supplier.

In the late 1990's the American entrepreneur Bill Semich acquired the rights to the .nu domain through his company Nunames Ltd.. Already at the launch of the .nu domain Nunames offered the possibility of using characters that are not part of US-ASCII, which was very unusual at this time. Among other things one could therefore register domain names containing the characters å, ä and ö - without specifically support in the software (unlike domain types with IDN support, eg. se).
Sweden became, and still is, the largest market by far for .nu. This is because the domain forms the word "now" in swedish and the .se domain was tightly regulated at this time. Among other things, only certain companies and government agencies could register .se domain names. Individuals were only allowed to register one (1) domain, and with the suffix .pp.se.
15-30 percent of the revenues of .nu-sales, Nunames uses for the expansion of Internet infrastructure in Niue. Among other things, all of the inhabitants of the island, thanks to Nunames, today have access to free Wi-Fi.
The .nu domain was introduced in 1997 and in addition to Sweden the major markets are, Denmark, Norway, the Netherlands and Belgium. It is also relatively common in Brazil and France.
